tanner tools ate the most easy

workview is ok,too.

Hi,

Workview is good, but somehow I can not automaticaly create symbols from schematic. I do not know if it is a license or installation issue. Any advice will be welcome.

Thx.

Ledit

There is realy few choise, most widely recongnized by Foundries is Ledit, from Tanner.

You are able to design your IC with HSPICE, then use Ledit for Layout, LVS and circuit extraction. you should do the post-layout simulations with HSPICE

pls tell me how to get pspice netlist from tenner softwares.

hi dd2001,

how can i get a copy of tanner tools for my personal use? i would like a more evolved copy then the student/free versions

Hi,
You can get a demo L-edit and T-spice pro here:**broken link removed**

design ASIC in Windows PC

I suggest you use package
(1) Mycad --> myanalog station include
spice , schematic , layout LVS ...
but lack of DRC/ERC command file

(2) Tanner Ledit_Pro --> include spice , schematic , layout ..
you can get DRC/ERC command file on
www.cic.edu.tw FTP server

1. schematic
ECS (cohesion HDS) --> best
Workview viewdraw
Tanner S-edit
Mycad MyAnalog

2. Analog simulator
Hspice
Tanner T-Spice
SmartSpice
Mycad myspice
Dolphin smash
nassda hsim

3. Fully Layout
Tanner Ledit
Mycad mychip
Magic

4. LVS LPE
Tanner
Mycad

5. P&R
Tanner Ledit SPR
SankeTech cellSnake

6. Logic synthesis
Synplifier synplifyASIC
Synopsys DesignCOmpiler for NT (very old version)
Mycad mySynthesis

7. Logic simulator
Mycad mylogic --> poor
Tanner gatesim --> poor
workview viewsim

8. RTL simulator
Cadence NC_sim
modelsim
Dolphin smash
Mycad mychip
Silios III
Avant polaris
Synopsys VCS/VCSi
aldec ActiveHDL

9. waveform tool
debussy --> best
simvision ??

waveform tool
debussy --> best
signalscan
underTow

graphic --> RTL
renoir --> better
summit VisualHDl

What about ViewLogic ?
I heard some good analog companies are using it in the US ?

viewlogic is very good for schematic, my company also use this tool

I ever use workview viewlogic .. but 5 year ago ..

Workview have many tool
viewdraw -schematic
viewsim --> logic simulator
viewspice --> spice

but I use composer on my company .. only smasll designHouse(fabless
still use) many company already use ECS ..

Workview is good tool , but support mix-mode is bad ..
not RTL simulator ..
like workview VCS (workview ever be merge by Synopsys
but synopsys only want a Vcs verilog simulator ..)

use cadence ic in linux will be good

A better way to find out which tool fits is to make an example circuit like an inverter. Then figure which tools cover the process of making schematic design, simulation, layout, verification, extraction, backannotation. So the complete flow from Entry to GDS.

That gives a much better picture of the capabilities of the tools and there interaction. The capabilities of complete Windows based tools are limited. To my understanding only Tanner und MyCad support an "analog only" front to back flow. If you consider BiCMOS or mixed signal with place and route, gate synthesis the windows flow is a rare collection of tools.

Linux is a much better platform. Now there are also many of the tools avaible before only for Unix platforms. But at much higher prices.

you can try the Tanner tools.
I think it's very good and easy.
You can make your Full-Custom IC.

APLAC SOLUTION 761 IS THE BEST packages for Analog IC design in Windows environment

Just to add some layout sw to list : Microwind, LASI and Magic.

For the first two, there are books in upload/download section. And I think all of these are free tools ...

Regards,

Hi. If it is full custom digital design, do you still use
these tools? what are the difference? design and simulation, tools and methodology.

Use Tanner L-Edit for layout design. Use Tanner S-Edit to draw the schematic and generate the netlist, then simulate the generated netlist using HSpice, more accurate than Tanner TSpice.
