what exactly we mean by control and data path in state machine design....
 

The data path is used to perform combinational and sequential circuits. The control unit is a tool which controls how the data path works properly.
 

Controller Part is only a FSM(C0UNTER) .It provides Address/ctrl/clk signal to destination.
Also it provide different ctrl signal to other's block as DATA PATH.

Data Path is used to process the data and it consists of Reg, blocks.
