I would like about the vilidity and usefulness of energy delay product and power delay product? Which of them is a better metric for designers?

Generlly power-delay product is preferred.

Power-Delay Product is a key parameter in digital circuit, to compare and work-around the electronic performance between different circuit structures, (eg. the COMS, CPL, NPL, and Domino Logic...).

Energy delay product and power delay product are the two Design Parameters that has to considered when u are designing an application, say handheld battery operated device.

It depends upon which application u are going to design, In some application the Energy delay product is much important and in some appplication power delay product may be important.
