how to install uncompress command?

uncompress rpm

Hello,


I found my linux hasn't uncompress command. How can install this command? My linux is RedHat 8.0.

rpm uncompress

go to rpm.pbone.com and find unzip and unrar and untar packages
this is the unrar >>>> unrar

uncompress linux download

gzip can uncompress the .Z file. If some software need uncompress command, just create a link from gunzip:
ln -s gunzip uncompress

linux uncompress command

You can download the uncompress rpm for RH 8 and install it.
 

redhat uncompress

just download a RPM package of zip, rar, unrar, gzip, bzip and bzip2, etc. there are a lot of software to do it

I remembered that synopsys used umcompress in its intallation script before. If your linux system does not have this command, you can use zcat instead.
Put an alias in your .cshrc file, such as:
alias uncompress zcat

Hi,
its an old utility. Now 'uncompress' command is an interface to 'gzip' utility. Either install 'gzip' or put a link from 'gunzip' in your $PATH.
 

uncompress redhat

For Fedora, install the ncompress rpm package and you get both compress and uncompress.

u can use

unzip for zip file
gunzip gunziped files
