Hello ppl.
I'm trying to submit my design to 4PCB.com guys and before I do that, I have to submit my gerber files (R274X) to www.freeDFM.com. When I run the DRC check in cadence, I got no errors but when I've submitted my design to these guys, I'm always getting the same errors irrespective of the changes I make. I'm using Cadence 15.2. Please help me

Here is the link for errors

I really donot understand the problem. I would appreciate your help.

Krishna

You probably did not setup design rules check properly. Read first at PCB manufacturers site what kind of width, clearance, etc constraints they have and set your design rules accordingly. E.g. min 10mil cleareance, 10mil minimum width. Each of those pictures in their report tells you exactly where the error is, all you have to do is read and check your design.
Insufficient Soldermask Clearance (11 violations)

Requirements:We require a minimum of .003" soldermask clearance. This is achieved by a soldermask relief .006" larger than the associated copper pad.

Resolution:While too small a relief can cause your pads to be partially covered by soldermask, too large a clearance can cause traces to be exposed, causing problems during assembly. The best method is to set all your soldermask reliefs .006 in. larger than their associated pad.

Insufficient Annular Ring (6 violations)

Requirements:We require a minimum of .005” annular ring for vias, a minimum of .007” for component holes.

Resolution:All layout packages provide this as a DFM check. Setting sufficient annular ring in your layout software is the preferred method, as copper spacing will be maintained.

Your parts are built using parameters that the boardshop can't accept, (on the 5 mil annular ring a lot of shops wouldn't complain - but the missing soldermask clearances are a mistake) - your easy option - let the board shop fix these - but keep in mind you must go back and fix your symbols and padstacks.

Hello Krishna,
It may be possible that ur design software does not contain these type of check(e.g.annular ring).and that is obvious, because these are very specialised DFM checks. So,before sending to manufacturer ,u must apply these checks to ur design if u want a good quality PCB.
If cadence is having these type of checks, then its good otherwise u need to go for any DFM software.

Regards,

Sinisa, Signit and Abhi,
Thanks a lot for your responses. It really helped me understand what exactly was going on. Infact, I didn't exactly follow the feedback from the 4PCB guys. Anyway, I've modified the annular rings and in Cadence. There is a tool called DFA check under Manufacture section. In that, all the default parametrs can be set. We should first click on RUN AUDIT and then EXPLORE VIOLATIONS. Then, it will exactly point to the position of the error and apprently, error can be corrected. I'm quite sure that you might already be aware of this however it's an information for no vice users.

One more thing, I have some problem with X-D errors. I've attached the screenshots. when it's P-P, I had understood that I've to change the PIN to PIN spacing in the constraints section but I didn't exactly get X-D (If you see the attached files - X-D is inside the capacitors and also in the other parts). I never understood what this exactly is. I tried modifying all the constraints and it never worked. Also when I run the DFA check, it's saying that "component has wrong orientation" but I'm not able to figure out the solution.

Help is appreciated. Thank You!
