Hi,
How do you desolder / remove / replace surface mount components. If you use the desoldering wick it removes most of the solder but there is still enough left to fix the component to the board.

Mechanically ripping the components off does work but also rips up someof the PCB tracks, and this does not work for larger pin count devices such as TQFP.

Any ideas?

Cheers

You can use several techniques.
- use a small copper wire and solder it on the pcb, close to the chip to be removed. Pull it under the IC and heat the pins one by one, while pulling the wire under the pins. Before you do this, I recommend to first used solder wick and flux.
- use hot air station; I bought one in Germany with digital temperature and flow control for 55 euro
- use chip quick (search google for this)

Success!
