FPGA and CLK

Hello again!!!

I have got the Altium LiveDesign Evaluation Board with Spartan 3. The board has got a clock for the FPGA and I think that connects to a general propose pin but I am not sure about that. Can I use it for general CLK in my projects or I have to put an external clock source?

Re: FPGA and CLK

No big deal...!!! you can use it if its connected to FPGA pin....if its not connected to global clock pin then the clock performacne (max frequency ans swek) may not be as ggod as GCLK pin. Alternative is use buffered clock and use it for all modules..

Re: FPGA and CLK

No check that pin.. its not general purpose pin..

its global pin.....

See manual....

Use that pin for your clock... and assign you clock port to that pin

Re: FPGA and CLK

Thanks

Now I am using that pin in a PicoBlaze project.

FPGA and CLK

if u need do high speed design ,u had better connect ur clock to special clock input pin.
