fyp grid computing

hi all,
i m an undergrad computer engg. student. i want to do my final year project abt grid computing or distributed computing. i only knw their meanings and not much abt the two fields. i want guidance like wat r the prequisites of it to start my fyp...i m a fedora user so i think i shud edit its kernel and things like that...m i right ? f any one knws abt it so plz guide me that wat shud i learn first to do a fyp abt grid or distributed computing.......
