1. i previously used gnome on RHEL3 for cadence product because of its simple appearance and never wanted to try kde, but now i realized that kde is more powerful and more convenient to use, but it seems that it takes a little longer to start kde than gnome (do you guys agree?), what are your recommendations ? and what is the disadvantage of kde to gnome (especially when using eda tools)?

KDE uses more memory than GNOME. But it provides more facilities than GNOME in X Window system. Thats why I use it.

If you are working on a system with not much memory try GNOME otherwise KDE is better.
