Hi,

May I know wat should I take into consideration when it comes to designing an isolation circuit? Wat characteristics of the opto-coupler do ppl normally consider? Voltage? Current?

Thanks,
Eric Mar

In most cases you will look at: voltages, speed and input (diode, gate+diode, .. etc.)/output (transistor, darlington, scr, gate, .. etc.) configuratuion ..

About other (less) important parameters you can read at:

in SPECIFICATIONS section ..

The main concern are about the Isolation characteristics of the device.

After that you are concerned with CTR that's the ratio of collector output current to input diode forward current.

CTR is important because it define the "loop gain" in power supply and so its value can impact on both performance and stability
