Idea for a palm reading sensor

I look for information concerning biotechnology reading of palm. The idea
is to have a sensor that reads our hand instead of our fingerprint.

Does this sound good or is it out of question ?

Gotta question yourself as to know wether the hand pattern could be a unique identifier as the fingerprints are...

Does any research proves that?
