I have searched the forums, but could not get much on this issue other than snippets of various guidelines.
Can anyone provide me on where to start on this issue, preferably with an eBook or a detailed write-up?
Also, can someone brief me on how compliance testing is carried out?

Check with FCC at https://www.fcc.gov for the approved types on regulations of EM radiation for electronic products.
