Hello Guys,

These questions are for those of you who are working in Germany as foreigners in the field of IT and especially as Electronics Engineers.

I have a job offer and a working agreement with a German company. The new immigration act that came into effect at January 2005 cancelled the Green Card that was used to until now to get work permit specifically for IT occupations.

I recently applied for work permit to Germany, can someone advise me please:

- How does the new immigration act impact the IT occupations (For good or bad) i.e are they still exempted comparing to other highly-skilled occupations?

- How much time does it usually takes to get a work permit apporval by the German authorities nowadays under this new act?

Your reply is highly appreciated

Best regards
