Why do simulators keep executing the code again and again ?

simulation vs real

Why do simulators keep executing the code again and again ? Isn't it unlike the real case where program is only once executed?

simulators must verify many real life cases for avoiding bugs.

What are those real life cases? I don't understand how repeated execution can help.
