i use Astro to P&R。Can the sdf extracted from Astro be directly annnotated to the simulation tool for post-layout logic simulation?

the answer is YES.

You could use it. Astro support could export several format back-annotated and parasitic information, sdf, rspf, dspf, spef etc. The STA tools could read it and get them analyzed.

Nowadays, seldom dynamic simulation is used. But most simulator still support the SDF reading. I remember the Cadence's simulator do so by $sdf_annotated (..... ) system command.

HI ls000rhb,

Although you can do this, but it is of not much use.

Find out what is the sign-off tool for the tape-out. Usually, the RC extraction engine from the P&R tool is not acceptable for sign-off. Popular sign-off RC extractioin tool are Star-RC-XT, Fire-and-Ice or XRC. Once you have the spef from the RC extraction sign-off tool, then use sign-off STA to do STA and write out SDF. Popular sign-off STA is Primetime.
