i need to understand fourier transform.

if you have two time domain signals then the convolution of the two signals is simply the product of the fourier transforms of the two signals. and convolution is one of the most used operations in DSP. all the time you are doing convolution somewhere in your system. in the time domain convolution is not so easy. but in the frequency domain you just have to multiply fourier transforms of the signals
