Hi all.
What RF levels pose more risk to health; the 24/7 coming 5G at a say 100 metres distant 'cell' tower or the 24/7 WiFi in your office or home at say 10m distant emission ? I do not know certain figures of the power levels they transmit. Whatever their typical values be could be considered for your opinion.

Microwave ovens = WiFi at 2.4GHz and their effects on living tissues seem to be the frequency of choice for comparing, unless other 'new' 5G tower frequencies need to be considered as with more risk.

Hi,

a quick web search obtains the following emitting power levels:

802.11/b (2.4GHz): 100 mW - 200 mW [1]
Typical mobile phone tower (Frequency not stated): 20 W - 50 W [2], [3]

The signal strength decreases by

S(r) = P_TX/(4 pi r²),

thus the WIFI signal strengh in 10 meters is about S_WIFI(10 m) ≈ 160 µW/m² and those of a typical mobile phone tower S_MPT(100 m) ≈ 400 µW/m².

What you also have to consider is the frequency dependent penetration depth of human tissue which decraeases with increasing frequencies [4]. Further, the frequency dependend atmospheric absorbtion has to be considered as well [5].

Ignoring the conspiracy theories, one thing is for sure. At full capacity, a 5G network will put more power in the air than any other previous cellular generation.

If I have to choose where is the worst place to stay for a human, I would say that: a) and b) produce pretty much that same damage, and c) the least.
a) 30min/7 at 1m from a microwave oven
b) 24/7 at 100m from a 5G BS (FR1, <6GHz)
c) 24/7 at 1m from a WiFi router.

I don't know yet what a full implemented network of FR2 basestations (24GHZ -52GHz) will bring on the table. Probably will be less harmful than a bubonic plague pandemy :)
