    Oscilloscope Opinion

Hey Guys, i'm in the market for an oscilloscope i used to use a hanatech ultra scan which had the inbuilt scope. i sold that and bought a x431 now i need a new scope.

I have been looking at this one: Tektronix THS3014 100MHz Handheld Oscilloscope

    Any thoughts or opinions?

    Re: Oscilloscope Opinion

I like my TDS3054 (higher BW).

I have read elsewhere that you can change a 3014
into a 3054 by updating the firmware, that the guts
are the same aside from the code.

    Re: Oscilloscope Opinion

do you need a hand held?
Fluke makes a good handheld that looks a lot like the tektronix you posted
or does the tek look like the fluke?

the bench scopes are better and easier to use (imho)
one issue, for me, is the multiple use of the buttons on the handheld
several are softkeys and do different things depending on what mode the 'scope is in
    i lose my place sometimes.
another issue is the pixel size on the handheld seems bigger than on the bench types.
all in all, neither of these is really significant.

in general tektronix is my first choice in a 'scope.
I used a really great LeCroy about 30 years ago - liked it a lot
HP became Agilent became Keysight - that's also a good scope.

It's too expensive..I prefer to buy second hand desktop high performance scope within this price..
