    PCB Bus bar mounts for connecting bus bars to PCB ?

    Hello,
    We have 42 PCBs each comprising a DCDC module which delivers 6.6A of current (48Vout) . All these PCBs must deliver their output current into a busbar. The busbar piece that connects to each PCB is some 5mm square cross section and made of copper.
    All the PCB Bus bar mounts that we see look in danger of breaking off the PCB…eg the following…

    We could drill a hole in the bus bar and then have a double ended ring terminal’d wire piece to jump from the bus bar to the PCB. However, we wondered if there are some bus bar mounts which screw into the PCB, and also solder to it? (we need the screw connection aswell so it doesn’t rip off the PCB).
    So you know of any “screw and solder” bus bar mounts for PCBs?

    how much current does each PWB provide - 6.6 A/42 or less than 0.2 A for each PWB?

    use a 20 gauge copper wire soldered to a PTH on the PWB and a screw terminal on the bus bar
    with a star washer with an eye hole for the wire.

    if each PWB provides 6.6 A, the total is 277 A
    is 5 mm square bus bar enough?
    in any case, the same thing may be done with a 12 gauge wire, or a few 16 to 18 gauge wires.

    thus one does not have to connect the bus bar to the PWB

    Thanks, yes its 6.6A per PCB....277A total.
    Yes the 5mm bus bars will go into an even thicker bus bar, to carry the 277A.

    Your fear is not unfounded.

    Better to solder short sections of multi-strand wires directly to the PCB. Please provide some modest strain relief.

    I do not consider the output voltage to be a critical determinant unless it is causing other effects (say sparking etc).

    Connect the other end of the cable directly to the bus bar. Connecting a multi-strand cable to a 300A bus bar may not be easy but no serious problem either.

    Bus bars for electrolysis (say for Al or Cu refining) carries 10-50kA at 5V or so.

    Regular manufacturers of bus bars do not love making holes. They recommend circular clamps. And that goes for 100A to 10,000A bus bars.

    My Desktop PC SMPS says that it gives 60A at 5V but the connections are nothing to write here.
