Hi everyone,
I am going to use SMD fuses for protection needs of the electronics. Which way is better, using current rating of: 6A 0603 package SMD fuse or three 2A 0603 package SMD fuses?

Using three fuses in parallel instead of one makes more sense to me since;
Each one of them will get hot lesser,
Since smaller current capacity fuses have smaller melting I2t, they will cut short circuit more quickly.

Am I correct or doesn't It make any sense?

Thanks in advance,
Canberk

Fuses -need- to get hot, to work.

You cannot depend on current matching, and a set of
(say) 1A fuses might fall like dominoes at 1A, 1A, 1A
rather than 3A if there's significant current-hogging.

There's a "must not open" current as well, and any fuse
in a parallel gang should be high enough rated to stand
that current. Which will push the "best case" (worst
case max current to blow) even higher probably.

Hi,

Did you try it? Did you do some calculations?
Please show the results.

I think these are just assumptions, but other users may take it for real.
