Hi,
I have designed a battery charging circuit with MCP73831 chip, after testing it for about 4h i ended with a swollen battery, this is the circuit i used

the battery i'am using is 3.7v, 200mAh

the VDD is 4.8v, could anyone help me to found the problem ?

Which MCP73831-X variant are you using? Does the selected Vreg fit the battery specification?
 

i'm using MCP73831-2, i mesured the output voltage and it is 4.2v
