Another thing to do is to use a loop antenna. These have deep nulls in two directions. You can rotate the loop to put the null in the direction of the unwanted station.
And here is pretty common solution used in many AM radios:
"The solution for this problem is the so-called seal circuit, which serves to weaken the signal of the local transmitter, so that it doesn’t interfere (but is still strong enough for normal reception, when the receiver is tuned at it)."
