what is the problem?

treat it like a wet cell phone

put it into a container with rice all around for a day or 2 to dry it out
get all of the rice dust off it
then put it back together with a fresh battery.

  • Your first post is from 8/16 (Today) at 6:58 AM, and says you have the remote fall into a pot of tea last night.
  • Subsequently a user suggests putting it in rice for a 1 or 2 days.
  • And you reply I tried that at Today at 7:52 AM (which is less than 1 hour later)

Even if you put it in the rice last night it hasn't even been a day yet. Give it more time in a desiccant.

Also cell phones are pretty well sealed even the ones that aren't water proofed, therefore far less water enters the device and a couple of days sitting in some type of desiccant will dry it out. On the other hand a remote is not sealed at all and will be completely soaked in a short time. Drying it will take significantly longer especially if moisture manage to get inside that black circle on the bottom of the top view or the IR diode might still be wet inside the lens housing.

There is also a much higher chance that the device shorted and was damaged by being dropped it in a contaminated liquid (tea is not distilled water with no containments).

My preference would be to put it in an oven and bake the moisture out and then clean the board with isopropyl alcohol to remove the contaminants left from the tea.
You might find other suggestions here https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/350302/does-water-actually-damage-or-only-temporarily-disable-electronics-until-drying

Cleaning the board AND the keypad mat is needed. I doubt the electronics is damaged.
Take the floppy plastic keypad mat and wash it in warm (not hot) water with detergent, then rinse it and leave it to thoroughly dry out. I usually clean the whole plastic housing at the same time so it looks new again.
Re-assemble it, being careful to locate the battery springs in their slot in the housing and it will probably work again.

Brian.

Hello Dr_Mohammad,
Check the yellow resonator on the back of the PCB. See if one of the
legs have snapped off. Try gently moving it to see if there's a gap
between the resonator and the legs.
Problems with resonator legs snapping is very common with most remote controls.
If it requires replacement, then make sure you glue the new one down, laying it on its side.
Please let us know how you get on.
Regards,
Relayer
