VGA to HDMI conversion
Hello,
I have been working on a project where I need to convert VGA video signal into HDMI, is there any chips for this? i searched a lot and found a couple of chinese manufacturers and was hoping to find something different from that.
I also would like to know if there is any way to extract audio from HDMI signal and put it on a separate audio connector?
Thanks.

Re: VGA to HDMI conversion
Buy one of these:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3276...chweb201603_60
disassemble it and try to figure out how analog VGA is digitized.
And this:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1857...chweb201603_60
is for extraction of digital audio from HDMI.Make no mistake between my personality and my attitude.
My personality is who I am.
My attitude depends on who you are.

Re: VGA to HDMI conversion
Thanks, they are using Chinese chips that I found their likes but i prefer something that can be procured easily and have clear datasheets.

Re: VGA to HDMI conversion
Hello,
look how HDMI is implemented on FPGAs (it is basically VGA + TMDS coder). See for example these links:
https://www.fpga4fun.com/HDMI.html
https://numato.com/kb/hdmi-output-ex...lopment-board/
https://electronics.stackexchange.co...-on-fpga-basic
Regards

Re: VGA to HDMI conversion
Well, guess i will have to go that way probably as I have many side functionalities along with that one. Thanks!
Do you have any idea about the cost comparison for both methods?

Re: VGA to HDMI conversion
Hello,
the cost of FPGA board is higher, but it is one time cost. After buying FPGA board you can use it for many projects. I can recommend you cheap FPGA board proper to implement such HDMI projects:
https://numato.com/product/mimas-v2-...with-ddr-sdram
It cost 50 $ (US). Of course, if you want to spend more choice is wide. For example such board:
https://store.digilentinc.com/nexys-...-applications/
dedicated to video processing.
Kind regards

Re: VGA to HDMI conversion
In some situations, it may be necessary to send a VGA signal from a computer to an HDMI connection on a newer display, TV, or projector. Using a VGA to HDMI Scaler/Converter, allows you to connect your computer to any device requiring an HDMI connection.
