Hi,

I have two questions to radomes.

1. The following statement is taken from the attached slide: FSS Radomes are Useful to Reduce RCS Over a Wide Frequency Range Due to Bandpass/Bandstop Characteristics

Does it mean the RCS of the antenna with this FSS radome? Why?

2. It refers permittivity in designing the radome. What about permeability? Do we need it in designing?

Jo

1) RCS radar cross section
see another Altair document on page https://www.altair.com/search/RCS
there are several documents. it is likely that one will explain it

2)permittivity refers to electric fields while permeability refers to magnetic fields
it is relatively easy to effect the electric field part of an EM wave,
(polarizers and Faraday Cages)
and relatively hard to effect the magnetic field part of and EM wave
(mu metal ?)

by effecting the electric field part in some way, it carries over to the magnetic field part since half the energy is in each part
