Hi I want to buy a programmer for AVR microcontrollers (dip packages). I want it ro be relatively cheap (hobbyist) and have a ZIF-40 socket so that I can remove the MCUs from the circuits and program them standalone on the ZIF.
Any ideas of which ones to buy would be helpful.

You could even make your own. Just get a ZIF and GP pcb... and wire it up with a berg connector for the interface. Needs just an hour or 2.
