x10 Protocol - Is it still used?

Hi!

I'm going to start a little project of automation and it was a idea to use x10 protocol over power line. There is a lot of data in the web but it's a little old. Any knows what is the state of art on that? I mean, is this protocol still used? Is there any alternative?
