We have a 100n, 1812, X7R ceramic capacitor which sometimes cracks when the PCB that it sits on is screwed to the heatsink (there is flexion during the screwing as some of the PCBs are slightly bowed). There is no room to move, or even to rotate the capacitor.
We therefore need a “board flexion capable” version of this capacitor…….these are easy to find on digikey etc. (EG "Flexiterm" etc)
But as you know, there is another option to mitigate board bending….involving a “lead frame” for the SMD capacitor……you can buy the capacitor installed into such a lead frame….but what is the search term that we must use in digikey in order to find such a “capacitor in a frame”?
