comparator for oscillator circuit

Hi guys,
This below figure shows the topology of comparator between Vref=0.5V and Vramp which is sawtooth signal with the peak value also 0.5V. How are they compared to create the square signal in the output?
Please, help me :)

This below figure shows the topology of comparator.
No, there's no comparator in this circuit. The square wave is driven to node Q by voltage source V1, Qb voltage is generated by the inverter M7/M8.


Q and Qb are driving the differential ramp generator.
