Hi Friends

I have a small dought on using a dummy transistor
as far as i know DUMMY TRANSISTOR is used to match the matched transistor in all aspects including environmental .
mainly we will check to secure DIFFUSION(OD).

But when we are going to lower tech nodes like 22nm 14nm 7nm etc

in matched transistor we will maintain continuous DIFFUSION(OD).
and at end of the matched devies we will get dummy poly . in that under dummy poly we wont have DIFFUSION(OD).
and we will use again dummy transistor

WHY I DONT KNOW.

Kindly explained this Topic please
Thanks in advance

I Got one answer whether it is correct or not i dont know
Answer : dummys may be fet dummy
OR
Transistor are placed in capacitor or diode format.

If you want "dead match" then use identical construction.
If there's such a thing as "good enough" then maybe you
can take some shortcuts. But if you don't know, stick with
the best.

Ask the foundry what data they have to say what the
difference is (statistics) between the two approaches. If
all you get is crickets, that's an answer too.

dummy poly are for better process control. they are not active devices, they isolate transistors from each other. if you want to know more about the topic, do some reading regarding local layout effects.
