Wish to buy heatsink from Fischer

Hi

We wish to buy a couple of these "SK469 35 STS" heatsinks from Fischer but they are not in stock anywhere.
Fischer have not responded to my eamil.
Do you know how we can buy them?

I am not so sure, but did you try china suppliers? I see that heat sinks cost an arm and a leg!

You can send a request in the online portal. Had no problems to purchase heatsinks from Fischer yet.

That heatsink isn't particularly special. I can think of a few on digikey that would fill a similar role.

Digikey lets you search by the type of package cooled and there are dozens for TO-220.

Do you think it will be possible to easily solder the solder tab on the SK 469 35 STS heatsink?.....

...surely the soldering iron's heat will just get absorbed up into the heatsink itself?

Treez, The solder pin of heat sink is very small it having 1.3mm diameter and 3.5mm length and also pin is attached to heat sink by press fit of other method. So the chances of heat absorption during soldering process is very less. the soldering tip size is bigger than pins. You can solder even 50W soldering iron.

It is there only to provide mechanical or physical support. Nothing will happen if you leave it unconnected or hanging.

However, it may be good to solder it if the PCB is being mounted on structure that is prone to vibrations. If the heat sink is unsupported, lots of vibration energy (which is proportional to the mass) will go into the legs of the transistor (and that is hardly desirable).

Yes, to solder that pin you may need a power soldering iron (40-60W) and keep a large pad to support the beast.
