I'm trying to get an LM35 to work with a LM324 op-amp. I can't make any sense reading the voltage output using a 5vdc supply. The voltage keeps going up. I was thinking the chip was getting hot because of too much current flowing threw it. I want to measure 20 to 100 degrees C. I haven't tried a 12vdc supply yet.

Hi,

Shouldn't be a problem on 5V with a signal that goes from 0.2V to 1V. How much are you amplifying it by? Any output over 3.5V won't be possible with that OA (always up to Vsupply - 1.5V). You could try putting a 10k resistor in line with each input.

And possibly not amiss to do something with the unused OAs on the chip if they are floating around. Cheesy analogy: I think OAs are like wild horses - very useful and powerful but they need taming/reining in or they are uncontrollable.
