Date/time is not preserved at bios as well in Windows 7.
When I set BIOS for correct date and time, Windows 7 system show date and time 6 year earlier (2012). When you set time in Windows suddenly bios date is set to 2024. Hardware is Acer 5741g.
I solder in new battery ML1220 at the MOB.

What could be the problem?

Questions:
Did the dates stay matched before you soldered in the new battery?

Did the computer lose track of the date, telling you the old battery was bad?

After changing a dead battery or updating BIOS you should reset the CMOS memory. That is done either by shorting a jumper on the motherboard or selecting "factory reset" or similar inside the BIOS menus.

1. I change battery because laptop didn't preserve time/date
2. There were no messages about bad battery. I measue voltage over battery and it was 2.5V so I decide to replace for new one.
