Fiber Optic(OPGW) testing wavelength

Hi! I just want to ask if is it ok to use a different wavelength when testing a fiber optic cable used for transmission line or for OPGW? For example I am using a singlemode fiber with 1550nm wavelength, is it ok if I will use 1310nm wavelength for testing?
