Please explain tech file naming rule.

In 12nm technology, 8m_2Xa1Xd2Xe1Z <- What means??

this is TSMC specific and it means you have a metal stack of 8. the bottom 2 metals are of type xA, followed by 1Xd, 2Xe, 1Z. some are inferred or constant for all metal stack options so they are not listed.
