Hi there!

Objective: To design a wideband matching transformer to match a 10 Ω load to a 50 Ω transmission line at a center frequency of 1.0 GHz, matched so that |Γin| < 5%.

  • Calculate the Scaling Constant, A.
  • Calculate all partial reflection coefficients.
  • Calculate the characteristic impedances.
  • Calculate the widths & lengths for using micro-stripline sections. trace thickness, t = 1.4 mm, PCB thickness, h = 4.7 mm & ϵr = 4.2.

Q. Using N = 4 section (Equal Ripple) Chebyshev matching transformer.

I think I did everything correct, BUT I get a negative width at the end.
What does negative width mean? Widths cannot be negative!

Below is my attached attempt!

Note: I used impedance calculator from: https://www.mantaro.com/resources/impedance-calculator.htm

Thanks
