Dear all,

I'm going to design a current limiting device for "medium voltage" lithium batteries (20 V< Vbatt <100 V). The involved currents are in the order of hundreds of Ampere.
I'm talking about a device like this one.
I'm considering to use the new MOSFETS with wide SOA and low RDS but I have to design the control circuits.
Anyone has some tips about this type of circuits?

Thanks in advance.

Luca

Hi,

Fuses usually are specified with:
* hold current
* trip current
* trip time
* I^2t integral
* peak voltage
....

True I^2t calaculation is not very easy, nor with analog circuitry, nor with a digital solution.

I recommend to read datasheets and application notes of ready to buy electronic fuses to get a clue about their function.
