wondering about the short circuit protection on an AMS 1117 5 volt regulator.
When short circuited, the current I suppose flows through the device, it then heats up, and then what. Does it melt eventually, or continually switch on and off as it reaches the thermal cut off point, or what happens?
I mean where is the protection if it heats up and melts anyway?
