Looking at the Tny290 schematic on page 8 of this…
https://ac-dc.power.com/sites/default/files/product-docs/tinyswitch-4_family_datasheet.pdf

..presumably if the auxiliary coil is also to be loaded (in addition to just supplying the bias power for the tny290), then there needs to be a zener placed back to back with VR2, and also a diode placed in series with R4?
These components would prevent the BP/M pin capacitor from possibly being discharged by the loading, which might occur at start up.
Adding these components would mean that if the auxiliary coil capacitor for example went short circuit, then the TNY290 would just keep dumping power into the short?
It does appear that the TNY290 normally relies on BP/M pin discharge to counteract short circuit output? There doesn’t appear to be any other bells or whistles inside the TNY290 to do this?

short ckt o/p will give very narrow pulses on the pri side, thus eventually the BP/M will fall lower and lower...

Thanks, i reckon the aux coil of the tny switch range should be diode protected so that it can't provide power to anything else...but just receive power itself......if it is allowed to provide current to something else, then the tnyswitch may drop out.
