Hi,
I am new to rectangular waveguides. In one question I am given the source freqency, relative permitivity and permeability of the dielectric material and the width and height of the rectangular waveguide. I am asked to find:
1. All possible modes that could propagate in the waveguide
2. Cut-off frequencies
3. Phase velocity and wave impedance for the lowest mode.
My attempt:
I know its a rectangular waveguide so only TE and TM waves will propagate. Then using the formulas below I can calculate the wave number.
My question:
n,m stand for "mode". How do I know what combinations to use?
Thanks!
