Hello buddies!

I have been wondering when one of my colleagues told me that he always place a series termination of 4.7kOhm in every electrical test point of the board in order to protect in any way whatever conducted high voltage/current coming from the measurement equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeter, etc) Does it makes sense to place a series termination resistor in all the test points? Anyone is following this rule of thumb?

thanks in advance

Hi,

Does it makes sense to place a series termination resistor in all the test points?
Surely not. Especially not for high accuracy measurement or high frequency measurements.

Even a 1Mohms load generates a 0.5% error.

I never place a series resistor in test points.
You should have an ESD protected area where you do the tests.
