What do calibre PERC tools do ?

Could anyone tell me what do PERC tools can do related to ESD perfomamce ? Can it plot a resistor map of all net in my circuit ?

Re: What do calibre PERC tools do ?

Assuming you have access to the manuals, there are many ESD examples in calbr_perc_user.pdf; also, chapter 10 of calbr_solns_pv_user.pdf. Some of the examples also have files in the $CALIBRE_HOME/shared/examples/calibre_perc directory.

Not sure what you mean by "resistor map", but as PERC is a programming language, it is probably doable. You may need to also check the RVE-PERC chapter in the calbr_inter_user.pdf for how to structure the output.

Re: What do calibre PERC tools do ?

It's not very user-friendly to refer a person asking a simple and a straightforward question to user manuals - they are often not the best place to search for a quick answer.

I don't know if PERC can do resistance mapping, but for sure it can calculate point-to-point resistance - like resistance from a pad to ESD diode, or from a diode to power clamp, show current densities (and verify against ESD current density rules), etc. - which is obviously directly related to ESD performance.
How accurately (from physics viewpoint) does it do it - is a separate question.
And how many pages of Tcl programming does it take, if your simulation is not a part of a standard foundry-prepared ruleset for PERC - is another separate question.

PERC is not a programming language, it's a tool that offers some functionalities and ways to achieve the desired results (using PERC programming language).

By the way, resistance mapping may highlight certain problems (with the layout), but may not show some other problems.
