How do we buy tweezers etc in UK now that maplins is closed?

Farnell, RS, Digikey, Mouser etc etc deliver by courier, and they will not deliver if you're at work in the week, which we are.
-They wont even deliver one of those "we called but you were out, come and pick your parcel up at the depot" type thingys..............well they will sometimes, but when you go to pick your parcel up, they make sure theyve booted it round the warehouse a bit to deter you from trying to do depot pickups too often...its just extra work for them.

[i remember going to one distributor' depot and picking up some ferrrite cores...when i opened the (very ragged) parcel..it was full of ferrite dust...they must have had a good game of footy with it.]

The Royal Mail will leave depot cards, but none of the farnells etc deliver by Royal Mail.

Is the whole shebang going to fall on Cricklewood electronics...because i believe they deliver by royal mail, but we sometimes need to go to a shop, and London is too far.

So with Maplins gone, we cant buy stuff like fine point tweezers, DMM's, Sidecutters, Loupe Magnifiers, Soldering irons etc etc

Is any store taking this over....Tesco? B&Q?

Ebay still works and most deliveries are by Royal Mail. If you ask Farnell nicely they will deliver by whatever method you choose. Rapid also ship most things by mail: http://www.rapidonline.com/ or you could try https://www.eurotech.co.uk/ (I have to declare an interest in Euro-Tech, my partners daughter works in sales!)

Re: How do we buy tweezers etc in UK now that maplins is closed?

I faced similar inconvenience with a courier service as they did not inform me that I wasn’t available at the delivery address. It took me a week to get my package. When I started my business of surgical tools a few months ago, I realized I needed reliable logistics. To avoid situations like before, I researched a bit and finally hired medical courier Dallas who seemed like thorough professionals.
