[SOLVED] Regarding temperature from corona discharge

What I understand is DC and low frequency (below 600khz) corona discharge will heat electrodes until they begin melting whilst high frequency corona does not do this (hookup tesla coil corona output to spark gap and no heat). Is it because higher frequency corona has short discharge period thus less power or some other reason?
 

I believe the premise is wrong. Corona discharge is generally low current and low temperature, no matter if DC or AC. Low frequency corona discharge can be seen in electrostatic discharge (ESD) ionisers, DC corona with "St. Elmo's fire" in thunderstorms. The neither melt electrodes.

High current DC or AC arc discharge can melt electrodes.
