Hello, I'm searching for one pair of transistor to replace BC550-560C transistors in my project.

The problem:
- I want an NPN and a PNP transistor for small signal and low noise application for a power audio amplifier
- The BC550C and BC560C are perfect, but: low voltage applications (I need almost 80V)
- I tried the couple 2SC2240 and 2SA970, works pretty well in simulation, but results obsolete in the online market
- Then I tried MPSA42 and MPSA92, but the hFe is too low

Can anyone tell me a transistor pair that have:
- hFe > 200
- Vce >= +-80V
- Suitable for audio power amplifier (then low noise, etc)
- Not obsolete (most important thing)
- Possibly the same cost of BC550-560C pair

Thank you

Hi,

I assume you already had a view at BC556/BC546.
Up to 80V V_CB0...but ibky 65V V_CE0 (Fairchild)

It is important to mention that if you choose the above BC546, it must have the suffix C, as this is the one which meets the specification hFE> 200

Hello northumber82 ,
I would suggest you could use a 2SA1016 and its compliment 2SC2362,
both are rated at 120V and are made by Sanyo.
If you live in Australia you should be able to obtain them both from either:
Wagner Electronics

2SA1016

2SC2362

or cheaper at WES Components, which are also here in Australia:

WES

When going onto the link above for WES, look right up the top of the page and you should see an
option: "Online Catalogue", click on that. It will take you to their e-book
type setup. Open the first page and then select, "Electronic Components". Just navigate from that.
Unfortunately the writing is a tad small, but you should be able to see each written component
fairly well. Unfortunately they don't have prices. But both transistors are pretty cheap and available.
i.e. 2SA1016 = $0.74 AUD and 2SC2362 = $0.65 AUD.

I hope the above helps.
Regards,
Relayer
