all led matrix i have seen on the the internet work like this:
they make the raw as a common then give data by 74hc595 IC on the column...is it not right??
so...why don't we do like this:
we make a column as a common then give data to raws by 595 IC

example:
if we want to make a 8*16 led matrix ,
there is two ways to do it :
1 - to make a row as a common then give data by 2 * 595 ic to the columns and repeat it 8 times
2 - to make a column as a common then give data by 1 * 595 ic to the raws and repeat it 16 times

pleas reply....

Hi,

You could do both ways.

But consider:
If you use a 1:16 MUX rate (repeat it 16 times), then
* Each bit needs to drive at least twice the current to get the same brightness
* the ON time per bit is max the half than with a 1:8 MUX rate to get the same frame rate
* you need more processing power
* expect more problems with ghosting effects
* consider to use interlaced scan/mux mode

******
No need to excuse for language.

hi

thanks for replying..

in the way which we connect 74hc595 to the columns and connect any ic which switch between commons (raws),
-as i see in the Chinese led matrix - how can we scroll the data ?? as shown in the photo
<<sorry for the bad photo>>
