    45nm Technology BSIM4 bulk CMOS model is not working in PSPICE

    I have downloaded 45nm bulk CMOS models from PTM website. However, I am getting convergence error while simulation in PSPICE. I have tried many convergence tricks still I am getting the same message" ERROR(ORPSIM-15138): Convergence problem in transient analysis at Time = 14.94E-12.
    Time step = 3.726E-21, minimum allowable step size = 15.00E-21"



    Please help me in this regard.

    I got the solution. I have inserted a small value series resistance (1ohm) in voltage source path. With that inverter with 45nm PTM working fine.

    However, when I have added pass transistors to form a basic latch it is not working. I am trying to make it working but need some tips so that time is saved.

    Cadence Spectre does not like floating nodes,high impedance nodes,internal current loops etc.Therefore I used to use very high resistances to floating nodes, very small resistances to high valued capacitors to make it faking out.It's very messy simulator.

    PSpice is not entirely suited to integrated circuit device
    simulation. It has always been for board level use, though
    I know people who have used it successfully for IC design
    (always for cost reasons). But they were also in older
    technologies, where advanced modeling was not needed.

    I am having an opposite problem trying to use industry
    PSpice-compatible macromodels in a semiconductor
    SPICE type simulator. There are dialect differences,
    device model param default differences, units differences.

    So beware your belief that "works" means also "is accurate".
