What is a servo motor and what is it used for?

servo motor

can anyone explain to me what is actually servo motor? how it is different to a normal dc motor. what is it used for? thanks

The main benefit of a servo is that they have a limited movement range (if you don´t do any modifications to them) and that they are easier to control compared to a stepper motor because you only need one line and send pulses @ right timing (either using a timing IC like 555 or pwm using microcontroller).
