I want to understand how the reverbration effect is implemented, where to start?

Reverbration is one place where we use DSP on samples of audio signal. I want to understand how it is done but clearly there are multiple ways to do this, what would a good resource to start from for understanding how it is done?

Will eventually be implemented in FPGA.

The book DAFX - Digital Audio Effects by Udo Zölzer has a good chapter about reverberation.

Simple reverberation effects can be made by superimposing multiple delays and adding some feedback.

Audacity (popular free DSP software) has one or two reverb tools. It has several parameters which you can tune, creating a sense of echoes inside a small room, large cavern, etc. It doesn't tell us specifically how the reverb effect is created.

Audacity manual refers to freeverb, which is well documented.
