I had been using a VIRTEX_II pro development board and it had been working fine , but recently I had to change it (but still its another VIRTEX-II pro development board).

Now, when I try to program it using JTAG then it shows the following error

Cable connection failed.
PROGRESS_END - End Operation.
Elapsed time = 7 sec.
Cable autodetection failed.
WARNING:iMPACT:923 - Can not find cable, check cable setup!

Can anyone help me out here?

This type of error usually means things like:

  • No cable attached (xilinx programming pod, or Digilent solution on the board)
  • Driver not installed or is the wrong version for the cable/embedded JTAG programming interface.

Try uninstalling and then re-installing the driver, in many cases it works!
